This 8-Year-Old Wants To Tell You About His Favorite Mammal, The Echidna (VIDEO)

WATCH: 8-Year-Old Has A Lot To Say About His Favorite Mammal

It's not unusual to meet a young animal fan, but this 8-year-old is quite keen on a very specific creature -- the echidna, a spiny form of anteater that is one of the only egg-laying mammals in the world.

HuffPost Live's Josh Zepps welcomed Rowan, an adorable science lover from Milton, Mass., who was bursting with excitement about the chance to talk with a research zoologist about his favorite mammal. Rowan asked a few questions about the echidna and told the story of the time his parents took him all the way to San Diego to see one in person... which didn't go exactly as planned.

The clip is part of HuffPost Live's "Tell Me Why" series, featuring young enthusiasts discussing the subjects they're passionate about -- from horror movies to string theory -- with experts.
