Hurricane Sandy Coverage Pushes Primetime Shows

"Private Practice" is sitting this Tuesday out. Instead ABC will air a special edition of "20/20" co-anchored by Diane Sawyer and Chris Cuomo.

"A Special Edition of 20/20: The Perfect Storm" will feature "harrowing stories of determination by those caught in the storm's path." In addition to the special "20/20," ABC will air a one-hour edition of "World News With Diane Sawyer" at 6:30 p.m. ET. Then at 11:35 p.m. ET, a special edition of "Nightline" featuring the latest on Hurricane Sandy's aftermath will air with Terry Moran, Cynthia McFadden, Bill Weir and Juju Chang.

Over on NBC, "Go On" and "The New Normal" will not air new episodes as planned at 10 p.m. ET and 10:30 p.m. ET Tuesday. NBC will instead air an NBC News special. The Peacock's Thursday night comedies have also been preempted in favor a rerun of "The Voice" from Monday, October 29. The "Revolution" episode that aired on Monday, October 29 will rerun on Friday, November 2.

UPDATE: "30 Rock" will still air its election-themed episode, now on a special night, Wednesday, October 31 at 8 p.m. ET, bumping the final episode of canceled new comedy "Animal Practice" from NBC's schedule.

Here's NBC's official description of "30 Rock," "There's No I In America":

ELECTION DAY FEVER HITS "TGS" AS LIZ (TINA FEY) AND JACK (ALEC BALDWIN) GO HEAD-TO-HEAD TO WIN OVER JENNA (JANE KRAKOWSKI) AND HER POLITICAL INFLUENCE. TRACY (TRACY MORGAN) ADVISES KENNETH (JACK MCBRAYER) ON VOTING FOR THE FIRST TIME.

Realizing that Jenna (Krakowski) could decide the Presidential election, Liz (Fey) and Jack (Baldwin) stage a debate to win her support and her followers. Kenneth (McBrayer) turns to Tracy (Morgan) for advice on how to be an informed voter, while Pete (Scott Adsit) tries to recreate the magic of the 2008 election.
