More than 8 million people in 18 states were left without power due to the storm, according to the Department of Energy.

Sandy is responsible for dozens of deaths in the U.S., according to The New York Times, and ABC News reports that the death toll in the Caribbean has reached at least 69.

Now, after the storm has passed, many are venturing outside, surveying the damage left in the storm's aftermath.
