I Made Six Figures But I Wasn't Happy

Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying that money isn't important or that I don't need money.

On the contrary, I was so attached to money that I freak out every time I had to spend it as I watched the numbers in my bank account decreases.

I am the way I am because I've been through tough times. I've struggled with many $1 days in my bank account and I know how it feels like when you need the money to buy milk powder but don't exactly know where the money is going to come from.

So you may think what the hell is wrong with me when I finally and actually made six figures right?

I should be jumping with joy and be happy with what I have achieved.

I am grateful for my success.

Ahhh.. here's the thing. What's the definition of success?

Honestly the definition of success is so over rated. It's really different from person to person.

The definition of success to a stay at home mum would be the health and success of her children and a faithful husband.

The definition of success to a single woman would be to find a right man to spend the rest of her life with.

My definition of success when I was struggling was to get out of struggling so that peace can be restored in my family.

My husband and I were constantly fighting (directly or indirectly because of money). We were so concerned with our own issues that we started drifting apart.

Who to blame? MONEY!?

Just in case you're interested on how I made six figures. I didn't beg, steal or borrow (too much pride).

I made a decision to do whatever it takes (legally, morally and without prostitution) to be successful.

I hired a coach and build my coaching business, one client at a time, and this was how my six figure business was created.

Since then I've been all over the media. From print magazines to radio shows. I even bagged numerous awards.

But so what?

I'm not saying that I didn't want the recognition. I did and still do. At first it was more of satisfying the ego self.

Now, my intention is really to get my name out there so that I'm not God's best secret and I use my gifts to serve more people.

Anyway, these awards and media coverage didn't make me happy either.

It was more like. Now. What' next?

It was this constant chasing of something invisible.

The same goes for money.

I was so focused on making money last year that I didn't have the time to be present for my children.

I was physically present but mentally somewhere else.

This totally defeats the intention on why I wanted a home based business in the first place.

Like I said, I still desire to make MORE money. Because with more, I can be more and do more.

Mother Teresa said that you need a cheque book to change the world.

I recently adopted a child from Cambodia and this requires money. It's not much but this small amount will be able to keep her in school and prevent her parents from selling her away.

The Bible never said money is the root to all evil. It said that the LOVE for money is the root to all evil.

That being said, I feel that this is a journey we all have to go through.

We all need to go through how it feels like to struggle and then survive and then really understand that money is not the answer to our happiness.

Like it or not, money is very the main deciding factor for so many areas of our lives.

The house we live in, the car we drive, the jobs we take, the clothes we wear and so on... you get the point.

So the whole idea is to make all your decisions without including money.

Money fulfills a purpose and if you so desire to have it, you'll find a way to make the money.

That was what happened when I wanted to have a third child because it was the year of the Dragon.

I asked myself this question.

"If money wasn't the issue, would I have a baby?"

My answer was YES!

And today, my daughter brings us so much joy and happiness. I'm so glad I made the decision to have her.

So, I lovingly invite you to challenge yourself how you can make lots of money without being attached to it.

As the saying goes... Ashes to ashes. Dust to dust.

We can't take the money along with us when we die.

So enjoy life and honor your desires. Because by doing so, your desires will take you to places you've never dreamed of.
