I would love to live in a country where the next time any Republican mentions "Benghazi," just one lonely reporter says, "You know, you people have been screaming 'Benghazi' like some kind of demented mantra for over a year now. I would love to live in a country where the next time any Republican mentions "Benghazi," just one lonely reporter says, "You know, you people have been screaming 'Benghazi' like some kind of demented mantra for over a year now. Four people died in Benghazi -- a tragedy, to be sure, but let's put it in some kind of perspective, shall we? First of all, how many U.S. embassies, consulates or diplomatic compounds were attacked during the Bush years? Not counting all the attacks on our embassy in Baghdad -- let's just chalk those up to casualties of war -- there were thirteen. And how many people were killed overall? Ninety-six. And how many calls for investigations were there? Umm ... none.

"But let's not stop there. Let me take you back to August 6th, 2001. George W. Bush was on vacation at his ranch and he received a CIA briefing with the headline 'Bin Laden Determined to Strike in U.S.' Did this prompt the President to a) initiate a series of actions to prevent any such attack, or b) tell the briefer, 'All right. You've covered your ass now,' and then go fishing? The correct answer is b. And what happened just thirty-six days later? Oh yeah, three thousand people died in a Bin Laden attack on U.S. soil.

"I think we can agree that if similar things were said and done by President Obama and led to similar consequences, you would be trampling each other in your foaming-at-the-mouth rush to be the first to demand his impeachment. And that if he then dared to run for re-election on the preposterous premise that 'He Kept Us Safe,' your current contempt for him would seem like adulation in comparison.

"So please, before you burp the word 'Benghazi' one more time, tell the American people why President Bush's doing absolutely nothing to prevent an attack he was warned was imminent - the very definition of an impeachable offense -- evoked not a scintilla of an iota of a jot of criticism, let alone outrage, from a single one of you depraved cretins."

Yes, that's a country I would love to live in.
