Idris Elba will soon be a Disney villain.

Elba recently signed on to voice the man-eating tiger Shere Khan in Disney's remake of "The Jungle Book," according to The Hollywood Reporter. The film is a mix of live action and visual effects (think "The Smurfs" or "Alice In Wonderland") and will be directed by Jon Favreau, whose credits include "Elf" and "Iron Man."

Disney is pushing production on "The Jungle Book" quickly, as Warner Bros. also has its sights on a remake.

It's safe to say this is a departure from Elba's most recent work as South African president Nelson Mandela in "Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom."
