As children, we all have dreams of what we want to be when we grow up, more often than not we are protected in the childhood bubble of fairy tale princesses and knights in shining armor. In reality, as we mature, the focus changes as we strive to be the best we can be. However, how many of us can say we took hold of that dream and made it happen? Or are currently pursuing it now?

Take a minute
There are so many life choices to be made: What career we want to pursue, how we want our lives to be lived and who we might have want to share it with. So take a minute and look around you. What have you done recently to make you feel proud?

What do you feel totally in charge of and what in your life really gives you that feeling of fulfillment and really being alive?

So what did it feel like to take a few moments? What showed up for you? Have you managed to identify a few things? Great! Take a few more moments to really feel that essence of fulfillment -- what do you notice?

a) Does your heart beat faster?

b) Feel a tingle up your spine?

c) Do the hairs stand up on the back of your neck?

d) Do you notice a change in the way you are sitting or standing?

Maybe it's more subtle than that and you are smiling or even envisioning those happy moments. It's great to celebrate those successes.

Now consider the areas in your life where things aren't going as well as you had hoped... What's holding you back? Part of our makeup is the values that we hold true to our hearts -- perhaps the value of love, determination, honesty and courage, to name a few. When you connect your values to those areas that aren't going so well -- are you really honoring your values? Too often in life we get caught up in the moment of everyday life and don't strive to stay true to what we really want. If you find yourself feeling frustrated, demotivated, angry or lacking in drive it could be a sign you are stepping on a value and not being true to yourself.

Getting back on track
So how do you get back on track and connect with the feeling of fulfillment you may have tapped into earlier when looking back on the successes? Taking time to focus energy on you is so important and in one respect reading this is the first step to making that dream a reality. So answer this... What's stopping you from chasing that dream? And really taking control of your life and saying yes to the life you really want to lead. Maybe applying for that promotion, going out there and grabbing the things you want in life with both hands, having the confidence to stand up in front of others, feel more at ease in social settings etc.

What's the one thing right now that you keep thinking about but never do anything to change it?
If you had one wish that could be granted today to make a difference in your life what would it be? Is it about putting yourself first, saying no to others and even making powerful choices and sticking to them? It's not enough to just wish for it, you have to make it happen! What would it be like to get back on track and discover the life you're entitled to live? Try out these steps to help you move forward:

1) Close your eyes and just envision that dream now.
2) Connect with your heart and what you truly want. Imagine what it would look, feel, touch and taste like.
3) Connect with the passion, the energy and the sheer determination that you know deep inside you have.
4) Now envisage what it would be like to live that dream, again with the looks, feelings, touch and taste.
5) Now ask yourself what is my next step? What takes me closer to living this?
6) Write down your plan.
7) Share your plan with someone who can hold you accountable.
8) Go make it happen!

So how did you get on with the exercise? You may find it a little tough first, that's perfectly normal, especially if you have been telling yourself for sometime you will never achieve your dream. We all know that deep down if we want something we have to work for it, dig deep and connect with our determination and then just go for it. So, go on reach for the stars, stay connected and go make it happen. You've got this. You're stronger that you realise.
