Iggy Azalea sat down for an interview this week where she discussed the influence of gay culture on her life, as well as society's own perceptions surrounding her sexuality.
The artist, whose debut album "The New Classic" dropped this week, discussed with PrideSource how some individuals try to paint her as a "fake" lesbian.
I know I talk about women a lot, and I think women are beautiful and I like talking about them, but I didn't want people to misconstrue that and think that I was being a fake lesbian. It wasn't a, "Don't think I'm gay," but more so me being like, "Hey, I'm not a fake lesbian." Straight's cool too, you know! It's almost like gay nowadays is so trendy that people want to be gay and then they don't. I'm not gay. I love gay people, but I'm straight. I don't wanna kiss girls. I'm not into girls. I appreciate women, and I like rapping about them, but in case you thought I was a lame person pretending to be gay, um, I'm not.

Rapper Angel Haze also gave a similar interview recently where she explained why she doesn't think coming out should be a big deal, and how she doesn't feel the need to discuss her sexuality outside of "sexual situations."
"Being gay in hip hop is still really stigmatized," Haze told reporters. "There are so many people in this world that are closet homosexuals. I guess I'm 'out,' but people ask me what my sexuality is all the time and I always tell them that it doesn’t matter, we’re not in a sexual situation so you don’t need to know. If we were in a sexual situation you would know exactly who I am sexually."
