Illinois' Dangerous Caregivers Missing From Federal Database

Illinois regulators revoked the license of one Chicago emergency medical technician in 2000 after she repeatedly failed to provide proper care to patients in need. When they discovered she had lied to get a new license, regulators took it away again last year.

Yet none of this information -- nor any disciplinary action against other Illinois EMTs -- is set to be included in a federal database intended to flag hospitals and regulators to problem providers before they land in trouble again.
