Injured Dog Rescued From Houston, Texas HOV Lane (VIDEO)

WATCH: Injured Dog Rescued From HOV Lane

A motorist risked his own life to save an injured dog from a busy highway in Houston.

Video from the scene from KHOU shows Rickey Young stopping his pickup truck on the Eastex Freeway, getting out, hopping the highway divider and trying to approach the dog, which he had heard about from a traffic report on the radio.

At first, the yellow Labrador appears scared and tries to back away -- so Young returns to his truck and gets a sandwich. Since no dog can resist a sandwich, the pooch is soon lured to safety.

"I could see that she was thankful and that she was happy to be in a safer environment," Young told KHOU.

The dog, a female, was taken to the Houston SPCA, where she was treated for broken bones and internal bleeding.
