Three caps, three gowns and one inspiring graduation photo.
That pretty much sums up the viral pic Shenitria Myles posted on Facebook on March 12 that features her, her husband and their son. The New Orleans family posed in caps and gowns to celebrate all of their upcoming graduations. The hashtags #MayGrads and #AFamilyThatStudiesTogether in the caption are a perfect touch.
In May, Myles will graduate from Loyola University New Orleans College of Law with her juris doctor degree. That same month, her husband, Mario Myles, will earn his master's degree in special education from Xavier University, and their son, Mario "MJ" Myles Jr. will graduate from kindergarten from Lake Forest Elementary School.
The trio's success has clearly struck a chord with Facebook. In less than two weeks, the photo of the three upcoming graduates has racked up more than 27,000 shares. Messages have also poured in from Facebook users expressing their support and appreciation for the inspiring post. Myles, who has written a Kindle book titled "Balancing Adversity" to share more of her family's background, told The Huffington Post that the response has been especially touching. Myles told BuzzFeed News that many people questioned whether the couple would continue their education as they prepared to welcome their son while they were still in college. It turns out the entire family proved them wrong.
"We have been looking forward to this day for quite some time but the reactions and support we have received has been amazing," Myles told HuffPost.
Congrats to this trio!
