It's been an incredible year, 2014, or as we like to call it here at Huff/Post50, "The Year of the Boomer." Every day we get to write and share inspiring, heartwarming and sometimes hilarious stories of people over 50. Whether they're real everyday people or celebrities, certain stories strike a chord and resonate with our readers. Here are the top stories that made us laugh, smile and ponder just a little bit more.

Their love for their grandkids is out of this world.

We're used to seeing the Clintons as ruthless politicians, talking hardball as they go head-to-head with Republicans or diplomatically side-stepping questions about Hillary's possible return on the presidential campaign trail. But we knew the power couple would never be the same after daughter Chelsea gave birth in September. In this rare candid photo of the proud new grandparents, we saw the pair not as a potential first female President and "first husband," but simply as two blissfully happy people, enjoying the company of a brand-new family member.

They haven't lost their sense of adventure.

We couldn't believe it when three grandmas volunteered to smoke marijuana (legally, in the state of Washington) for the first time -- on camera. "I was too busy raising children," said Grandma Paula when asked about why in all these years she had never tried marijuana. "I was a suburban housewife and we had our cigarettes and our cocktails and we were happy," said Grandma Dorothea. As the grandmas took their very first puffs, got slap happy and of course, got a case of the munchies, we couldn't help but laugh with them in total awe (along with about 17 million other YouTube viewers). Just goes to show, you're never too old to try new things.

They're beautiful.
Anastasia Pottinger
It's not every day that we see a nude 100-year-old-body. In fact, until earlier this year, we're not sure we ever had. We came across photographer Anastasia Pottinger's collection "Centenarians," and were immediately blown away by the beauty and realness of the pictures. "I knew I was looking at something very special," Pottinger said of the collection. Lines, wrinkles and sags have never looked this fabulous.

Their love is incomparable.

Over the summer, this video of a very musically gifted older couple of over 50 years surfaced, melting our hearts instantly. The video starts out with the wife playing piano -- nothing out of the ordinary -- but then pans to her husband doing his own jig to her music, behind her, with his cane. At the end of the song, he makes the most romantic gesture. We think they could give the Swiffer couple a run for their money.
5
They're resilient and inspiring.
Megan Shone
No, that's not her natural color. Rather than let ovarian cancer get her down, Rosemary Capitolo, 71, decided to knit herself a head of hair. Capitolo told us she had been knitting caps for herself to deal with the chemo-related hair loss, when she came across a pattern for this hair-cap and thought it would be a "hoot." Her granddaughter posted the photo on Twitter and it instantly went viral. Capitolo said she'd be wearing the cap to her next chemo treatment. Way to show cancer who's boss, Rosemary.

They're still sexy.

E.L. James may come to mind when you think of steamy erotic novels -- not an 86-year-old great-grandmother. But proving that post50s are still very much thinking, talking and reading about sex (as well as having it), Georgia Gorringe, pen name Georgia Marie, became a first-time author. The Utah native reportedly spent five years penning the novel and her daughter suspects much of it is based on the author's own life. We're blushing.
