To the seekers of more, those that yearn to learn, strive and maintain absolute drive there is one common core. To invest in yourself. Just as in finance the wisest move is to pay into your retirement account first, in life it is the most important to invest in yourself first.

Place the oxygen mask upon yourself first before that of the person or child next to you. There is a profound reason for these instructions in-flight. We have to make sure we are full of breath first before we can give to those who may not be able to fully provide for themselves.

There are endless ways to pour focus into yourself but here are some strong starting points:

1. Rest, recharge, rejuvenate.

The endless pursuit of long days and short nights is so outdated. Our miraculous bodies require two profound things in a twenty four hour time period to function optimally. Nourishment and sleep. Sleep, meditation and quiet moments are an absolute catalyst to investing in ourselves. We need to pay attention to this and make it a priority. Your body is always talking to you, take the time to tune in and listen in order to give it what it needs.

2. Read, absorb, learn.

Take the time to get your mind engaged in anything you can. There is always time in the day. Fuel yourself with engaging quotes, motivating blogs, self-help books, audio downloads, youtube videos. Some of my favorites are: Quotes on Pinterest, Abraham Hicks videos, Ted Talks, Quick read Books like Derek Sivers & Seth Godin, Gabby Bernstein videos as well. Be a sponge, it will all serve to your highest good.

3. Life Coaching & Counseling.

The value of having an outlet to focus just on you and your dreams is priceless. It is way too easy to get caught up in the fast pace of daily life and be derailed from your true goals and passions. We all have a dream in us and the absolute ability to make it a reality. Obstacles simply don’t exist when you don’t allow it. And make sure you don’t think about any obstacles. (What we think about we attract - that is the most important thing to remember!) Find someone to hold you accountable to your vision. This is truly an investment in yourself. The time, money and energy placed into this will come back ten fold. Trust that while yes, you do have the knowledge and ability to do it alone – why waste anymore time letting life derail you from your vision. Commit to someone to coach you, keep it on your schedule each week and you will feel and see the momentum growing exponentially. Commit to you.

4. Have Mentors.

Never consider yourself to be the smartest person in the room. (If you do, you really need to leave that room) Surrounding ourselves with people who are more successful, more focused, abundantly wealthy and continually striving to move ahead is essential. Give back to these relationships as well because you have something to offer to everyone.

5. Fitness Creates Focus.

Movement is everything. Our bodies and minds are meant to be worked, never continually sedentary. There is always time to get moving, so release all excuses. Invest in the beautiful body you have been gifted. Honor it by using it optimally.

Begin where you are, with what you have. Tune inwards. Bring the energy you extend to others back to yourself right now. Investing in ourselves is the strongest thing we can do to move towards our best life possible.

It’s (more than) okay to be selfish in our self-care. We can only give the best of ourselves to our children, partners, family and friends when we take the time to nurture our own needs.

When our alignment is pure and rooted, no outside experiences can affect our grounding. While we may sway and bend like a palm tree in a storm, we shall remain rooted and whole.
