Iris Prize, LGBT FIlm Festival, Releases Montage Of This Year's Nominees (VIDEO)

WATCH: A Montage of 30 Nominees For The World's Leading LGBT Short FIlm Festival

The Iris Prize Festival, an international lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender short film festival based out of the United Kingdom, has released a film montage of the 30 short films up for consideration at this year's competition.

Established in 2007 by The Festivals Company, the Iris Prize is judged annually by an international panel of artists and filmmakers with an awareness and investment in LGBT issues.

The unique aspect of the Iris Prize is that it encourages the winner to keep creating. That is, it is the only award for a short film in the world the enables the recipient to make another film. According to the festival's website, "Iris is more than just a trophy that gathers dust or a certificate that yellows on the wall. Iris is what film makers need -- funding, support and guidance."

This year's Iris Prize will take place Oct. 9-13 in Cardif, the capitol of Wales. For tickets and scheduling information visit the festival's website.

Also, check out the montage of this year's nominated films above, as well as the trailer for last year's winner below, titled "The Wilding" by Australia's Grant Scicluna.
