I owe my life to modern medicine and the teamwork of my health care providers, and that is why I have joined with the Maryland Healthcare Education Institute (MHEI) to celebrate the caring nature of health care providers through the creation of the Iron Heart 5K.

For me, this race is an opportunity to show my appreciation for the care I received during my recovery, and give back to the health care community. For MHEI, this race highlights the work of the health care providers and the desire to continually work with them to improve the delivery of healthcare services. Together, I am working with MHEI and Maryland health care providers to make a difference.
