On the Dec. 2 episode of "Super Soul Sunday," Oprah will be talking with neurosurgeon and Proof of Heaven author Dr. Eben Alexander about his fascinating personal experience with the afterlife. In anticipation of the event, HuffPost OWN decided to gauge reader opinion on the ever-intriguing topic of life after death by creating a simple yes/no poll: "Do you believe in life after death?"
At press time, almost 1,500 votes have come in. HuffPost readers have indeed spoken, with the majority -- 816 -- saying yes, they do believe in an afterlife. By contrast, 671 poll-takers said no, they don't believe. (You can take the poll yourself by clicking here.)
The very question ignited impassioned commentary from readers. Click through the slideshow to see excerpts from a selection of their thoughtful and emotional reactions.
