Could a concert by the Foo Fighters really be much better than this?
The Rockin' 1000 -- a collective of 1,000 Italian singers, guitarists, bassists and drummers -- converged on Cesena, Italy, this past Sunday to play the Foo Fighters' 1999 hit "Learn to Fly."
The megaperformance was an effort to convince the Foos to play a show in Cesena, a city of about 100,000 in the country's northeast.
"Italy is a country where dreams cannot easily come true," said Fabio Zaffagnini, the founder of the Rockin' 1000, in a video posted to YouTube Thursday. "But it’s a land of passion and creativity. What we did here is a huge, huge miracle."
The group didn't immediately return a request for comment, but the Rockin' 1000's site sheds some light on the epic project.
The idea was hatched by Zaffagnini in May 2014. He and a core group of believers helped raise funds and recruit a team of professional musicians, technicians and experts in video and sound.
The results can be seen above and below.
Now all that remains to be seen is whether Dave Grohl and co. will be swayed by their own song and pay a visit to Cesena -- or if they will tell the Rockin' 1000:
(It could end up being the latter -- Grohl is reportedly not a huge fan of this particular song.)
Representatives of the Foo Fighters did not immediately respond to a request for comment, but it appears the band has a little time before it kicks off an international tour in support of the new album "Sonic Highways" on Aug. 12.
The band is slated to play two shows in Italy this November -- one in Casalecchio di Reno, which is about an hour away from Cesena, and one in Turin, which is four hours away.
