It's Earth Day. What Should You Do?

This year, Earth Day's taking a political focus. To encourage comprehensive climate change legislation, the main event for this year's celebration is a Climate Rally on Sunday, April 25 (a couple days after Earth Day, which falls inconveniently on a Thursday this year) on the National Mall in Washington D.C. The rally, encouraging the U.S. government to pass comprehensive climate change legislation, will feature speakers such as film director James Cameron, environmental photographer Sebastian Copeland, author Margaret Atwood and the Reverend Jesse Jackson, as well as live music from Sting, John Legend, Passion Pit, Jimmy Cliff and others.

If it's a little too late to plan a trip to D.C., you can show your support by participating in local Earth Day activities (search for events by ZIP code). If you'd rather avoid the crowds, you can just stay home and join the 31 million people who have pledged to take a green action (from drinking less bottled water to searching out renewable energy programs) on the Earth Day homepage.
