It's The Dream of a Lifetime

The beauty and majesty of thoroughbred horse racing is indeed poetry in motion. When these magnificent animals take to the track, they do what is in their blood to do... they do what they were born to do... they run.

The beauty and majesty of thoroughbred horse racing is indeed poetry in motion. When these magnificent animals take to the track, they do what is in their blood to do... they do what they were born to do... they run. They run with such speed, with such grace, with such elegance.

Songs have been written for the Kentucky Derby, the run for the roses, and rightfully so! For that is where a thoroughbred begins its quest for the lofty Triple Crown. Then, it's on to Maryland for the Preakness Stakes, but a horse has to win each of those races and then come to New York and race and win the Belmont Stakes to take the Triple Crown!

Well, this year, as in several years before, there's a horse who's won the Kentucky Derby and The Preakness. As California Chrome, the heir apparent from the champion bloodline of Secretariat, Native Dancer and Seattle Slew, makes his run for racing's coveted title, Triple Crown winner, horse racing fans everywhere will watch -- and anxiously wait -- to see whether the elusive Triple Crown will be captured. Not since Affirmed made his runs in 1978 has a thoroughbred been successful in garnering wins in all three races. Only 11 in history have ever been successful.

My song, "Belmont Bound," was written from the thoroughbred's perspective. From the perspective of a race horse about to make its run for glory, about to take its chance at making history. And like my song says, it's true: "It's the dream of a lifetime to be the best of a bloodline!"

Just click the link at the bottom of the song's lyrics to listen.

I set out to run a race
To run fast and set the pace
I set out to run a race
To run it with speed and to run it with grace

Now I'm Belmont bound, Tried and true
Belmont bound, I already won two
Belmont bound, Poetry in motion
Belmont bound, With a Triple Crown notion

Just take a look at my pedigree
It's the finest you'll ever see
I ran fast from KY to MD
Now NY will be my legacy

'Cos I'm Belmont bound, Tried and true
Belmont bound, I already won two
Belmont bound, Poetry in motion
Belmont bound, With a Triple Crown notion

It's the vision and the fantasy
Something that was born in me
The race has always been my goal
Ever since I was a little foal
It's the dream of a lifetime
To be the best of a bloodline
With the wind and dirt in my face
How I live to run the race
I'm a thoroughbred nose to tail
And I was born ... to run that rail

Now I'm Belmont bound, Tried and true
Belmont bound, I already won two
Belmont bound, Poetry in motion
Belmont bound ... I got a Triple Crown notion!
