Everyone knows the benefits of drinking water. It can help health and wellness in so many ways. Flush the body of toxins, help increase energy, promote the immune system, and even support weight loss. But sticking with hydration efforts can be a challenge, especially when there are other beverage options you can reach for.

But a little style can actually help. Here’s how:

  1. Get A Chic Glass. Oprah Winfrey had once said she keeps a fashionable glass nearby to keep her motivated to drink water. Believe it or not, it can work! Get a glass, to-go cup or pitcher to house your water. If nothing else, you’ll have a style element in your day. If you go with plastic, be sure your option is BPA-free. A cool mug can work double-duty for hot or cold drinks if you’re at an office and need to conserve space.
  2. Infuse a little flavor. It can amp up your water to add a little flavor, and you might find yourself drinking more as a result. Everybody knows about adding citrus such as lemons, limes and oranges. But you don’t have to stop there. Mint, cucumber, sage, basil, rosemary, strawberries — there are a lot of other options for infusing your cup. Or mix a few. To really get the flavor to come through, allow the items to sit in your water a bit. But, you can add on the fly, too. Either way it’s a tasty treat.
  3. Tap into technology. There are a bunch of really amazing apps to help motivate and track your water intake! Waterlogged and Daily Water are two that come to mind, but there are many others. Some are free, some cost a small fee. You can set reminders, track your water intake. Some even let you know when other beverages are contributing to your hydration effort.
  4. Pick the right source. Bottled water can make sure water is a bit more clean. But it can also add waste to the environment, increase your cost because you’ll need to regularly buy water in bottles, and there have been health reports and concerns about plastics that contain BPA as many bottled waters do. If you’re not sure about the quality of your tap water at home or work, there are a number of filtration pitchers and cups you can use. You’ll need to do a little homework to ensure you’re getting chemicals or pollution out, and be diligent about changing filters. If you do have to buy water to ensure its clean, BPA-free containers that can hold gallons of water are available. You can also find glass for this. When you do have to buy bottled water, look for BPA free bottles or go with something in glass. You’ll be able to tell from the labels on the bottle or the containers.
