Exhibition info: “Afterimages”, February 7 – April 21 2013, STAM City Museum / Ghent / Belgium
The solo-exhibition “Afterimages” at the STAM City Museum in Ghent showed 40 photographs of former Expo sites. I photographed the architectural remains of World’s Fairs and the sites on which they were built, often revealing an ironic contrast between the grand futuristic ideals of the time and the urban reality of the modern world. This exhibition was the (extended) Belgian venue of “The Future of Yesterday” that was on view at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art in 2012.
