Commitment -- it's not for everyone. But what makes committing so much more difficult for some people than it is for others?

Tyrese Gibson and Rev. Run posed this question to relationship expert and life coach Iyanla Vanzant on their relationship series, "It's Not You, It's Men," and she didn't hesitate to offer up an eye-opening theory.

"We have unrealistic expectations of our partners," Vanzant begins. "I want you to: make me happy, earn the money, father the children, wash the car, take out the trash and be good in the bed, as you brush your teeth and have your vision and pay your bills on time."

This -- not fear of commitment, per se -- is what creates the roadblock.

"They are leery about whether or not they can live up to the demands and the expectations that are placed upon them in a relationship," Vanzant says.

Curious whether you're dating a commitment-phobe? Vanzant also says there's one surprising red flag that many people tend to overlook.

"It's Not You, It's Men" airs Saturdays at 9 p.m. ET on OWN.
