Gov. Jack Markell Really Believes Bernie Sanders Won't Win The Nomination

The Delaware politician says he would support Joe Biden.

Delaware Gov. Jack Markell (D) isn’t endorsing Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) for president nor does he think Sanders will win the Democratic Party’s nomination.

“I think in the end he doesn’t have a great chance of winning the nomination and if he did I think it would probably be an uphill battle to win the presidency,” Markell said in an interview on HuffPost Live on Friday.

Earlier this month, a fake website popped up that said the governor strongly supported Sanders. The website, jakemarkell.com, has a banner on the top of each page that reads "Get on the Bernie Bandwagon." And the first sentence on the home page says, "I am endorsing Bernie Sanders for President of the United States in 2016."

“That is not my website. I find it funny that people would take the time to create a website like that. It is not mine,” Markell said. “If it came to him or [former Secretary of State Hillary] Clinton, I would certainly be with Secretary Clinton.”

Markell also said he would support Vice President Joe Biden if he were to decide to run for the White House again.

According to a recent HuffPost Pollster report, which aggregates all publicly available poll results, 18 percent of Democrats currently support Sanders, while 57 percent support Clinton.
