Boxes full of documents and artifacts about Jack Ruby, the man who killed Lee Harvey Oswald, have been revealed for the first time in nearly 50 years.
"CBS This Morning" reported on the files, which contained Ruby's gun holster and a set of aluminum brass knuckles he carried, as well as memos surrounding the case of Oswald, who shot and killed President John F. Kennedy on Nov. 22, 1963.
CBS reports Dallas County District Attorney Craig Watkins will loan some of the artifacts and documents from the files to the Sixth Floor Museum in Dallas.
Friday marks the 50th anniversary of Kennedy's death. Key witnesses of the event have been sharing their stories in the days leading up to the anniversary, including Mary Ann Moorman, the woman who took the infamous "grassy knoll" photo.
Others have used the occasion to float conspiracy theories and express skepticism about the investigation over Kennedy's death. Kathleen Kennedy Townsend, former Maryland Lieutenant Governor and niece of the late President John F. Kennedy, recently admitted she doesn't know if Oswald acted alone, and Secretary of State John Kerry has said he has "serious doubts" about claims that Oswald was a lone shooter.
