Jada Pinkett Smith Reveals Why She's Happier Now Than Ever

The actress says growing older has helped her become more confident.

Jada Pinkett Smith says time has taught her a lot of things, but mostly that aging ain’t so bad.

The actress, who celebrated her 45th birthday on Sept. 18, says she’s having the time of her life.

“With age comes a lot of wisdom and I’m happier now than I have ever been, so it’s good,” she said in an interview with Entertainment Tonight.

Pinkett Smith said growing older has helped her become more confident and accepting of herself.

“This is me, this is my skin, this is my face, this is my body, love it or leave it,” she said. “I think as you get older, you really get to the point where you just don’t care anymore what people think. There’s a certain freedom that comes with that, [which] you really don’t have when you’re young.”

For her, that means rocking a pair of gold grills that were a birthday gift from her 18-year-old son Jaden.

Her career is still going strong after decades in Hollywood and she’s currently starring on Fox’s “Gotham.” When asked about her secret to staying youthful, she simply said, “Happiness.”

For her, that means making her family a priority, including her two teenaged children and husband.

“I feel like I’m beginning a whole new part of my life,” she said, commenting on her soon-to-be empty nest.

Her husband, actor Will Smith, turned 48 Sunday and she posted a tribute to him on Facebook calling him, “a fire of inspiration in my heart.”
