In a candid discussion about motherhood, quality time and the consequences of life in the spotlight, three generations of women -- Jada Pinkett-Smith her daughter Willow Smith and Pinkett-Smith's mother Adrienne Banfield-Jones -- sat down for the first of what Smith hopes to be an ongoing conversation called "Red Table Talks."
A minute and a half long trailer for the video discussion, which is set to debut on Mother's Day 2012, May 13, reveals Banfield-Jones' feeling that she was "not a good mother" to Pinkett-Smith and Willow's concern that the family does not spend enough quality time with one another.
"For people to be able to sit down together and have a conversation, that's the power of love. Love is what sometimes holds us and binds us when we're not so happy," Pinkett-Smith says. The conversation she's starting around "The Red Table" will eventually represent all conversation, she adds. "My belief is that communication is the best way to create strong relationships."
In a less intimate forum, the pages of French magazine Gala, Pinkett-Smith spoke out against rumors of divorce with husband Will Smith last month. Though she admittedly spends lots of time apart from her husband, the family's lifestyle hasn't changed, according to People magazine. She went on to explain how she provides space for her children as well to "express themselves and make their dreams come true."
