Will Smith may star alongside The Joker (Jared Leto) in his new movie, “Suicide Squad,” but it seems like he has quite the joker in his own family.

During an interview on “The Tonight Show” with Jimmy Fallon last week, Smith said his son Jaden almost got away with a little underage drinking on his 18th birthday, thanks to his smooth planning skills.

“He has a show coming out called ‘The Get Down’ so he was promoting in London,” Smith said. “So he was like, ‘Guys, you know, it’s before my birthday, I’ll be promoting in London, everybody should come to London and we’ll just celebrate my birthday there!”

The actor thought it was nice of his teen son to invite everyone over to the U.K. for his birthday, but it wasn’t until the family went to dinner that he realized Jaden’s real intentions for the trip.

“And then we go to a restaurant and, you know, Jaden was just particularly excited,” Smith said. “We sit down at the restaurant and he looked at the waiter and he says, ‘I’ll have a tequila.’”

It was then that Will figured out his son was trying to make the most of England’s drinking age, which is 18. But thanks to some quick thinking, he was able to turn the tables on Jaden.

“I was thinking fast. I said, ‘Oh, but hold on, hold on, hold on. It’s only noon in LA and you weren’t born till 4, so you’re not 18 yet!’”

And that’s how it’s done, y’all.
