Jake Gyllenhaal Hospitalized After Punching A Mirror

Jake Gyllenhaal was hospitalized yesterday morning (Nov. 13) after punching a mirror on the set of "Nightcrawler" in Los Angeles, according to People.

The actor was reportedly filming an intense scene when he injured his hand and was sent to the emergency room.

"Jake flipped out," a source tells People. "His character was looking into a mirror during the scene and punched the mirror in anger and broke it, cutting himself so bad he had to be taken to a hospital."

Gyllenhaal, 32, got stitches, but insiders say the accident was the result of working an exhausting 18-hours. He returned to set later that day.

"The scene was emotionally charged and his character was talking into a mirror and he got so into it, he banged his hands against the mirror and it broke and cut him," the source close to Gyllenhaal explains. "It was all the scene, and not because he was mad about anything else."

Gyllenhaal is allegedly "starving himself" to lose 20 pounds for his role as a crime-scene reporter in the upcoming drama.
