Jamaica Anti-Gay Attack On Student Allegedly Caught On Tape

WATCH: Alleged Anti-Gay Assault Caught On Tape In Jamaica

Grainy amateur video that allegedly shows a young gay man being beaten at a leading Jamaican university is making the blogosphere rounds.

As The Gleaner reports, two unnamed men were being held by officials at the University of Technology (UTech) in Kingston after being caught in what is described as "a compromising position."

Though details of the alleged incident are scarce, the circulated video shows one of the alleged gay men appearing to be kicked, punched and slapped by two security personnel while a third guard looks on. Meanwhile, an angry mob gathers outside.

CNN iReport, a citizen journalism-driven portion of the popular news network, currently is hosting the video, though its authenticity is not verified. Conflictingly, the site also identifies the campus as University of the West Indies in Kingston rather than UTech.

UTech officials were expected to issue a statement Nov. 2 about the incident, according to Go Jamaica.
