James Cameron: 'Watching Avatar On An iPhone Is Dumb'

Consuming media entertainment on smartphones and computers is the 'in' thing right now. But James Cameron wants you to cut that out--at least when it comes to his own movie.

Cameron, whose Avatar broke grossing and attendance records worldwide, does not recommend that you use your iPhone to view his blockbuster film.

While talking about Avatar's November Blu-ray release, Cameron had this to say:

I don't feel that I'm making movies for iPhones. If someone wants to watch it on an iPhone, I'm not going to stop them, especially if they're paying for it, but I don't recommend it.

I think it's dumb, when you have characters that are so small in the frame that they're not visible.

Nor does he want audiences to watch Avatar on their laptops.

If it were up to him, everyone would see his most recent blockbuster on the big screen. Or on their 3D TVs, which Cameron believes to be 'the future' of television, and which he, incidentally, helped launch. The coming 3D TV 'revolution,' will be available in Spring 2010, the Daily Mail reports. 'If you're going to go 3D, go big,' the Oscar-winning director suggests. 'Get the biggest set you can, and then sit as close as you can stand. [...] That's my advice. Get the coffee table out of the way and slide the couch over, right in front of the TV.'

Roger Ebert has a different take on 3D--check out what he's got to say about it here.
