James Carville: Hillary Clinton Conspiracy Theorists Are 'Inhumane, Idiotic' (VIDEO)

Democratic strategist James Carville on Friday blasted conservatives who have suggested that reports of Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's recent health problems were fabricated to allow her to avoid testifying on the Sept. 11 anniversary attack in Benghazi, Libya last year.

“What kind of human being is going to think like that with everything going on with concussions, head injuries? The fact the woman was dehydrated from the fact that she’d been overseas so much. I just don’t know, and some of these people I know and I get along with,” Carville told CNN on Friday. “I have no idea what it is about the secretary of state that drives them to this kind of inhumane idiotic behaving state. It’s something that I’ll never understand. And none of it made any sense at all.

Clinton reportedly came down with a stomach bug last month. The illness left her dehydrated, and in mid-December, she fainted, hit her head and received a concussion, which ultimately led to her being admitted to a New York hospital to receive treatment for a blood clot that developed in her head following the fall. She has since been discharged and is expected to return to work next week.

The timing of Clinton's concussion seemed suspect to some conservatives, however -- such as former United Nations Ambassador John Bolton and former Rep. Allen West (R-Fla.) -- who appeared to accuse the secretary of state of coming up with a "diplomatic illness" or "Benghazi flu" so that she could skip scheduled congressional testimony on the Benghazi attack. Despite their doubts, Clinton had already responded to a report documenting the State Department's failures during the episode, and has long been expected to testify on the incident sometime this month.
