The internet couldn’t handle how inexcusably bad Lifetime’s Britney Spears’ biopic, “Britney Ever After” was ― and neither could James Corden.
On Tuesday night, “The Late Late Show” host took delight in ripping apart the television movie, sharing many of the same observations as Spears’ fans.
“The role of Britney Spears was played by none other than the Australian actress Natasha Bassett,” he said, taking aim at the film’s poor casting choices as he showed a photo of the actress in costume on screen. “She’s the perfect person for a biopic ― if the biopic was about Tiffany Trump.”
He also poked fun at the incredibly low-budget nature of the movie and the fact that the filmmakers were unable to secure any of the rights to Spears’ music.
“Luckily, the creative masterminds behind this film came up with some Britney songs even Britney didn’t know existed,” he said. “You know the ones I’m talking about: ‘If You’re Looking For Trouble.’ It’s amazing for someone to make a song so forgettable, I couldn’t sing it to you now and I heard it four seconds ago.”
Corden also couldn’t overlook the terribly cheesy dialogue.
“Now, the Lifetime version of Justin Timberlake maybe didn’t look like him, but if you close your eyes, it’s like he’s in the room,” Corden said before playing an excruciatingly embarrassing clip of the actor portraying Timberlake reciting the lines, “He wants to know if you are aware that you are, in fact, the bomb diggity.”
“You know it’s Timberlake when you hear ‘bomb diggity.’ Because everybody knows that. When have you not seen Justin Timberlake going ‘bomb diggity’?” Corden asked.
