James Franco In 'Cherry': Porn Story To Co-Star Heather Graham

Of the myriad art forms at which James Franco has tried his hand, there's one conspicuous absence in his eclectic resume: porn. That's almost surprising, given his tendency to shock -- or, at least confuse -- the general public, and now he's taking a big step toward filling that blank.

The Oscar-nominee (and host!) has signed on to star in the new indie drama "Cherry," Variety reports, in which he'll star as a cocaine-addicted lawyer who becomes involved with a naive, 18-year old girl/newcomer to San Francisco and the adult industry.

Joining him will be Heather Graham, who will play an ex-porn star-turned-director; Lili Taylor as the girl's mom; and Dev Patel as her best friend. All they need now? Someone to play the girl.

It's yet another project for Franco, whose prolific output on film is made all the more impressive given his writing career, fine art endeavors, and endless accumulation of advanced degrees. In fact, he graduated from NYU earlier this week.

Franco will next be seen in August's "Rise of the Planet of the Apes," and soon will start filming "Oz: The Great and Powerful," with Mila Kunis, Rachel Weisz and Michelle Williams.

He'll be getting behind the camera for the serial killer film, "The Night Stalker," as well as a biopic of actor Sal Mineo and a big screen version of Faulkner's "As I Lay Dying."

Oh, and he'll also star in a new psychological thriller with Winona Ryder.
