'Zap' Stress Away By Tuning Into Your Emotions

'Zap' Stress Away By Tuning Into Your Emotions

It's one thing to teach others about reducing stress, and another to take your own advice. After struggling with the latter, Jan Bruce stepped back to co-author meQuilibrium: 14 Days to Cooler, Calmer and Happier, and she joined HuffPost Live host Caroline Modarressy-Tehrani today to discuss her new favorite tips for dealing with daily stress.

"One of the first steps that we teach people is a skill that I call 'trap it, map it, zap it,'" said Bruce. "Throughout the day, things happen that make us highly emotional and highly reactive. And emotions are often a really good barometer for when we're starting to get stressed -- I mean negative emotions like anger, anxiety and frustration. This skill helps you get in control of your emotions."
