Jane Norton Draws Fire From Right Wing For Not Answering Gay Rights Question (VIDEO)

Republican Senatorial hopeful Jane Norton continues to take shots from the right this week as a new Youtube video posted on a channel called ColoradoTeaParty1 attacks Norton for not answering a question on gay rights.

The video features a young female questioner at a town hall asking Norton whether she would "oppose any and all employment non-discrimination legislation that would force organizations of faith to hire homosexuals."

Norton refused to answer the questions directly, instead referencing her husband's--former U.S. attorney Mike Norton--pro bono work for the Alliance Defense Fund, a right wing non-profit that defends the role of religion in public affairs.

"I want you to know that my husband does a ton of pro-bono work for the Alliance Defense Fund."

Later in the forum, another questioner pressed Norton for an answer, to which the former Lieutenant Governor replied, "I did answer that, and my husband's work has been in that area, but I won't comment on anything that I haven't had the opportunity to read."

The video concludes with a clip of rival Republican candidate Ken Buck, a favorite of right wing groups, at the same forum, answering the same question simply "Yes."

Norton been pressured lately by the Republican Party's right-wing stalwarts to prove her conservative credentials. In February, Conservative former Colorado Representative and staunch illegal immigration opponent Tom Tancredo publicly expressed concerns that Norton might harbor moderate viewpoints on immigration.

Norton holds a vast cash advantage over Buck, the Weld County District Attorney, and is considered the front-runner to win the GOP nomination. Buck, however, has received support from several conservative groups, including a $350,000 ad buy from a group called the Campaign for Liberty, which supported Ron Paul for President in 2008.
