"Star Wars" fans, here's one more reason to be excited about "The Force Awakens" -- Jar Jar Binks will not be gracing (or terrorizing) your screen once again.
Binks proved to be one of the most polarizing characters in the franchise after being introduced to audiences in "The Phantom Menace," with some seeing him as a thinly veiled caricature of black Caribbeans and others cringing every time the Gungan tried to provide comedic relief.
At the "Star Wars" press conference on Sunday, bigwig producer Kathleen Kennedy made the announcement fans have been waiting to hear since news of the seventh installment was first released.
"Jar Jar is definitely not in the movie," she said, according to People.
Director J.J. Abrams also revealed that "there are no Ewoks" in the film either, before Carrie Fisher joked, " ... That you're aware of."
According to Variety, Abrams told the audience, “All the scenes are actually in the movie,” referencing the now signature post-credit scenes from the hugely successful Marvel franchise.
Now watch this fan-made trailer that positions Jar Jar Binks as a major character in the upcoming film to experience the horror that could have been.
We are living in the best timeline, "Star Wars" fans.
