LOS ANGELES -- A luxurious estate that once belonged to Hollywood legend Ernest Borgnine is now the property of TV and film actor Jason Bateman and his wife, Amanda Anka (yes, the daughter of Pauk Anka).

Trulia first reported news of the sale Friday and notes that the deal closed Jan. 23 for $3 million.

The gated compound, located in the Beverly Hills Post Office neighborhood, spans a half-acre of land. The main structure, a 6,148 square-foot home, has five bedrooms. The property also features a pool, paneled library, office, den and formal dining room, as well as a one-bedroom guesthouse with a living room and kitchen.

Borgnine owned the home for almost 60 years before he died at the age of 95. It hit the real estate market Sept. 2012 for $3.395 million, a few months after Borgnine passed away.

Bateman has recently been in the public eye to promote his new comedy film, "Identity Thief." In the film, which co-stars funny lady Melissa McCarthy, Bateman resumes his usual level-headed, put-upon beta male role and learns how to stand up for himself.

The actor is best-known for his role as Michael Bluth in the TV series "Arrested Development." The cult classic, which ran from 2003-2006, had a small but ardent fan base. Fox eventually canceled the show due to poor ratings but fans found ways to keep the show alive. The show was resurrected for a 2013 season, set to premiere in May exclusively on Netflix.
