Jason Wu For Target Is Latest Designer Collaboration (UPDATED)

FLOTUS Fave Gets A Target Collaboration!

After a barrage of tweets and five clues provided by @TargetStyle, the latest designer to collaborate with Target is...

Jason Wu!

The news came last night and was confirmed today by Women's Wear Daily, as the retailer spent Sunday dropping hints via Twitter (see all five clues in the slideshow below).

The collab is Target's first following the Missoni for Target launch on September 8, which saw scores of shoppers storm Target.com and Target stores in search of the colorful pieces. In the process, ravenous fashionistas crashed the website and drove savvy shoppers to resell their Missoni for Target pieces on eBay for thousands of dollars.

So needless to say, a Target collaboration bodes well for Wu.

Wu told Women's Wear Daily, "The exciting thing about this limited edition collection of affordable women’s wear and accessories is that it allows me to reach a wider audience and bring my designs to people who may not have been able to purchase them before."

Such as... Michelle Obama? The First Lady has been a huge Wu fan since she made him a household name, wearing one of his original designs at the 2009 Inaugural Ball. But Obama is also a Target fan, seen shopping at the big-box store just last week.

All of which makes Jason Wu for Target the perfect storm of FLOTUS faves -- and has us so totally freaking out. We will be first in line when the collection drops.

When will that be? That details has not yet been announced. Stay tuned for more info and in the meantime, click over to WWD.com to read more.

UPDATE: As per an official Jason Wu tweet, the collection will be available starting February 5, 2012. There's also a newly released teaser video posted on Youtube by Target to get you excited (as if you weren't already). Shoppers, start your engines...
