Jay Leone, 90-Year-Old, Testifies Against Home Invader He Shot, Samuel Cutrufelli

'POW, POW, POW': 90-Year-Old Recalls Shooting Home Invader

When Samuel Joseph Cutrufelli broke into a retired man's home, he probably didn't guess his 90-year-old victim would pack such a punch.

Last week, former sheriff's deputy Jay Leone testified against the would-be murderer, whom he ruthlessly fought off with one of his own guns -- despite being shot in the face, the Marin Independent Journal reports.

The incident began around 10:45 a.m. on Jan. 3, when 30-year-old Cutrufelli entered Leone's Greenbrae, Calif., home and began robbing the senior citizen at gunpoint, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. When Cutrufelli led Leone to the bedroom, the older man convinced the defendant to let him use the bathroom, where he hid his own guns. Leone obtained one of his weapons, and the two then exchanged gunfire.

Leone, who eventually gained the upper hand, recalled the experience from his hospital bed.

The gunman begged for his life, the senior said. "I looked him straight in the eye. [He said,] 'Don't kill me, don't kill me. I got a daughter,'" Leone told local media. "I said, 'F*** you,' pow, pow, pow, pow."

Leone shot Cutrufelli three times before the two men began to wrestle each other. Eventually, Cutrufelli attempted to shoot Leone in the head, only to realize he was out of bullets. The invader then ran from the home.

Cutrufelli is charged with attempted murder, burglary, robbery and firearms offenses by a felon.
