Jay Z's 'Picasso Baby: A Performance Art Film' To Debut On HBO

'Picasso Baby' Sets HBO Premiere

Jay Z's recent performance-art project for "Picasso Baby," in which he spent six hours filming the music video in a Manhattan art gallery, will make its world premiere on HBO. The more-than-a-music-video music video will air Friday, Aug. 2, at 11 p.m.

The pretentiously entitled "Picasso Baby: A Performance Art Film" features Judd Apatow and Alan Cumming, both of whom are spotlighted in the new trailer, as well as Wale, "Girls" actor Adam Driver and artist Marina Abramovic. Similar to Jay Z's Samsung promos, the "Picasso Baby" trailer finds the rapper musing on "putting your fears and your vulnerabilities and your insecurities to music."

The new project was directed by Mark Romanek, who previously helmed the rapper's "99 Problems" video as well as En Vogue's "Free Your Mind," Michael and Janet Jackson's "Scream," Fiona Apple's "Criminal" and Johnny Cash's "Hurt."
