Denim Rules In Fall 2012 Street Style (PHOTOS)

Denim Continues To Reign Supreme This Fall

At New York Fashion Week I expected to see outlandish getups and quirky attire (which I did), but I also saw denim in all its glorious iterations, from jackets to overalls to adorable dresses.

As for jeans, the ladies were out and about in every shape and wash: straight leg, light wash, skinny and flares. These gals know what they're doing when it comes to styling: paired with a simple neutral sweater and heels made for a why-didn't-I-think-of-that casual day look.

Elsewhere, I saw girls wearing dark skinny jeans with the trend of the season --the peplum top -- and strappy heels: the ingredients for a perfect evening look. I found myself gravitating toward the women who wore classic, simple outfits after seeing so many over-the-top looks during fashion week.

That's not to say that edgier styles were lost on me: I noticed metal on denim, in the form of studs and buckles. These hard elements on a jean jacket paired with a flowy skirt or wide-legged trousers were another way that New Yorkers are putting a new spin on the American classic this fall.
