Jenni Rivera Movie Should Star Daughter Chiquis As The Late Singer, Says Family

Jenni Rivera's Family Chooses Who Will Portray Singer In Upcoming Biopic

Who better to play the part of Jenni Rivera in the film adaptation of her life than her own daughter?

Rosie Rivera, sister of the late singer, confirmed that Jenni’s daughter Chiquis is interested in playing her mother in the upcoming film on the life of “La Diva de la Banda.”

“That’s our plan, that’s our dream. But, you know, in situations like a movie as big as this and with producers and big companies, these decisions have to be made as a team,”said Rosie to Primer Impacto at the presentation of Jenni Rivera’s tequila “La Gran Señora” and the release of her brother Juan Rivera’s new album,”La Oveja Negra.”

“We as the Rivera family will present Chiquis and hope they accept her,” she added.

If Chiquis lands the part, it would be her film debut.

In February, Rosie Rivera announced plans for a Jenni Rivera movie as a way to share Jenni’s life with all of her fans. On the Spanish-language show “El Gordo y La Flaca,” Francsico Joel Mendoza, the film’s director, suggested Jennifer Lopez and Angelica Vale as possible actresses for the role of Jenni.

Chiquis shared spotlight with Jenni Rivera in reality shows

Chiquis, Jenni Rivera’s eldest child born Janney Marin, first appeared in the reality show “Jenni Rivera Presents: Chiquis and Raq-C,” which followed Chiquis and her friend and radio personality Raq-C. The 12-episode show aired on Mun2 in 2010.

That was followed by the very popular “I Love Jenni” show, centered around the late singer’s family. Mun2 will air the final season, which includes six episodes shot before Rivera’s death in a plane crash near Monterrey, Mexico on December 9, 2012.

Chiquis also appeared in “Chiquis ‘n Control,” a one-season spinoff that showed Chiquis opening up her beauty salon and the family drama surrounding her living on her own.

The young TV personality co-hosted “The View,” and aside from eyeing the role of Jenni, she’s interested in having her own talk show.

“I would love to have a talk show,” Chiquis Rivera told People en Español earlier this year. “A show like Cristina or even something like what Don Francisco does, but it would be entirely my own.”

Chiquis may be in the running for this role as she is a younger looking Jenni. Now, we will have to wait and see if producers are convinced she can measure up to the part in this highly-anticipated film.
