Jennie Garth has a long and storied history with Tori Spelling. The two "grew up" together on the long-running teen series "Beverly Hills, 90210," and now, 24 years after the show first premiered, they star alongside one another in ABC Family's "Mystery Girls."
While Garth is only a year older than her co-star, she told HuffPost Live's Caitlyn Becker that she looks at her as a "little sister." Accordingly, she was quick to come to her defense when asked to address a soundbite of Ian Ziering calling Spelling's reality show "a trainwreck" in a May HuffPost Live interview.
"On [the] one hand, he does love Tori in the way we all love each other -- the bond that we all share," Garth explained. "But it was a little harsh, just the words 'how do you not watch a trainwreck,' and I know that that really hurt Tori, him saying that, because people could take that in a very wrong way."
"True Tori," infamously broadcast an intimate look at Spelling's marital problems, as well as the actress's ailing health. For that reason, Garth understands the reservations about the show.
"Her reality show wasn't for everyone," she said. "And for me, it was hard to watch just because I love her so much. It was hard for me to see that kind of position she was in."
