The film adaptation of "Fifty Shades of Grey" is on its way, as the upcoming production adds to its cast.

Last month, it was announced that Charlie Hunnam and Dakota Johnson will play the lead roles of Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele, respectively, in the big-screen version of E L James' highly successful novel. Now, "Zero Dark Thirty" star Jennifer Ehle has joined the cast as well, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

THR reports that the 43-year-old Ehle will star in the film as Anastasia's mother, Carla. Her filmography also includes roles in "The Ides of March," "Contagion," and "The King's Speech."

Led by director Sam Taylor-Johnson, "Fifty Shades of Grey" will follow James' original story of the successful businessman, Mr. Grey, and his kinky relationship with college co-ed Anastasia. The novel was adapted for the big screen by Kelly Marcel, who promised the movie will stay true to its boundary-pushing roots.

"Fifty Shades" will hit theaters on Aug. 1, 2014.
