Jennifer Lopez Talks 'American Idol' Season 12 Future

J.Lo: 'Maybe It's Time' To Exit 'Idol'

Jennifer Lopez is unsure about returning to "American Idol." While promoting her new "Ice Age" flick on NBC's "Today," Lopez hinted that she won't return for "Idol" Season 12.

"I've enjoyed it so much, but I am thinking it's maybe time for me to go and do other things I really love to do like films ... and performing," Lopez said. "I know everybody wants that definite ‘yes’ or ‘no,’ and ... all I can let you in on is my own thought process with it, because that’s where I truly am."

According to TMZ, Lopez has been telling friends she's unsure of her future with "Idol." Recent reports indicate producers are looking at pop talent to possibly fill out the judging panel a la "The X Factor" Season 2. Reports swirled that the likes of Katy Perry and Adam Lambert could be in the running to judge the Fox singing competition, but nothing official has been announced.

"This has been a great journey, but then again I love the show so ... all I can tell you is what I'm thinking," Lopez said on "Today."

Lopez has been hinting at an "Idol" departure since May. "I don't know," she told E!'s Ryan Seacrest. "I have some movie things in the works and I have the tour. I love the show and it hurts me to think about not doing it, but I'm just taking it kind of day by day. We'll see."

Initially only signing on to judge "American Idol" for one season, Lopez fueled speculation that she wouldn't return for Season 11. Eventually she did, with a raise.
