Jeremy Jordan Joins 'Smash' As Season 2 Series Regular And More Casting News

The New Face Of 'Smash'

Jeremy Jordan is taking the "Smash" stage. Jordan, who stars in the Broadway production of "Newsies," will appear in the NBC musical drama as a series regular, a source confirmed to The Huffington Post.

According to TVLine, Jordan will play a straight "Brooklyn-born singer with a self-destructive streak." "Smash" returns to NBC midseason with a new showrunner, "Gossip Girl's" Josh Safran, and without a few faces. Jaime Cepero (Ellis), Raza Jaffrey (Dev) and Brian d'Arcy James (Frank) will not return in a regular capacity.

In other casting news ...

Britne Oldford of MTV's short-lived "Skins" remake is checking in to "American Horror Story."
Oldford will play the recurring role of Alma in Season 2. [TVLine]

"The X-Files" veteran Robert Patrick is coming to "True Blood."
Patrick, who can also be seen in ABC's "Last Resort," will play Alcide's father on the HBO series which is currently in its fifth season. [THR]

John Cho has gotten a "Go On" promotion.
Cho will now be a series regular on Matthew Perry's new NBC comedy. [TVLine]

Cheyenne Jackson has joined "Behind The Candelabra."
Jackson will co-star alongside Matt Damon, Michael Douglas, Rob Lowe and Scott Bakula in the HBO biopic about Liberace. [THR]

Red Riding Hood is sticking around "Once Upon a Time." Meghan Ory has been promoted to a series regular on the ABC fairy tale drama. [TVLine]
