General Boykin Claims Muslims Making 'Great Progress' Spreading Sharia

General Boykin Compares Dearborn Michigan To Damascus, Syria

General Jerry Boykin said in a recent radio interview that Muslims everywhere want sharia to spread and that they are making "great progress," reported Right Wing Watch.

General Jerry Boykin was interviewed on the Clay and Marty show in Bakersfield, California on his way to Canyon Hills Church.

Host Clay Koerner asked Boykin, "Isn't there a city in Michigan that is almost 100 percent Muslim and operating under Sharia law now?"

Boykin responded, "Dearborn, Michigan yes...if you walk down the streets you would think you're in Beirut or Damascus or someplace."

However, according to the City of Dearborn website, there are approximately 54 churches in the city and 5 mosques. The city's mayor is John O'Reilly Jr, a non-Muslim, and there are 7 city council members, none of whom are Arab or Muslim.

Though Boykin did confirm that not all Muslims advocate sharia, saying, "in fact many of them came to America to get away from sharia," he claims that the government doesn't listen to these voices; rather it listens to those groups like Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) and the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) who are "fronts for the Muslim Brotherhood."

"Their sole objective in America is to establish Sharia...their objective is to destroy our constitution, to replace it with Sharia and they are having unbelievable success in doing that."

This isn't the first time Boykin has made controversial statements about Islam. In 2009 while speaking to churches about his experience with a Muslim tribal leader in the war in Somali, Boykin had said, "I knew that my God was bigger than his. I knew that my God was a real God and his was an idol."

This incident, reported by CBS News, angered many Muslims prompting a response by President George Bush in which he distanced himself and his administration from Boykin.

Boykin has recently authored a book entitled, Sharia: The Threat to America.
