'Jersey Shore' Star Ronnie Ortiz-Magro Avoids Jail Time

'Jersey Shore' Star Headed to Jail?

'Jersey Shore' star Ronnie Ortiz-Margro has a reason hit the Jersey clubs and celebrate today. The MTV star won't serve any jail time stemming from a 2009 boardwalk fight -- all of which was caught on camera all the way back during Season 1 of the hit show.

Ortiz-Magro was indicted in December on one count of third-degree assault -- a charge that could have sent him to jail for up to five years.

The 'Jersey Shore' star appeared in front of a New Jersey judge Monday, and according to E! Online, learned he will be serving community service in lieu of hitting the slammer.

The reality star has been admitted into a 18-month pretrial intervention program, which gives first-time offenders an alternative sentence other than jail.

His indictment last December came just months after his August arrest. No, he didn't get into another fight on the boardwalk -- he was booked for not paying several parking tickets.

Ortiz-Magro is currently filming the fifth season of 'The Jersey Shore' back in Seaside Heights, N.J. with the rest of Snooki & Co. -- hopefully keeping out of trouble this time around.
