Jess Weixler Returning To 'The Good Wife' Season 5

Fan-Favorite 'Good Wife' Character Returning

Jess Weixler is returning to "The Good Wife." A rep for the series confirmed that the actress will be back for the CBS legal drama's Season 5.

Weixler joined the cast during "The Good Wife" Season 4 as Robyn Burdine, a new investigator at Lockhart/Gardner. The character, a foil to Kalinda (Archie Panjabi), proved popular and appeared in six episodes.

The Season 5 premiere of "The Good Wife" will include Jeffrey Tambor as a judge, who Weixler recently tweeted at in excitement.

Another "Good Wife" fan favorite, Carrie Preston, told EW she has been asked to return to the series. "I will say they have reached out to see if I’m available for a particular episode ahead of time," Preston said. "If I’m available then they will write for me, but it’s not any kind of formal offer yet. I haven’t seen any scripts. I think they’re just now getting back to work. So it would be for something that we would shoot a couple of months from now."

Other additions for the new season of "The Good Wife" include Melissa George of "Alias" and "Hunted" fame as Peter's (Chris Noth) new in-house ethics counsel, Juliet Rylance as an ASA and potential new love interest for Kalinda and Ben Rappaport as a fourth year from Lockhart/Gardner. Additionally, Zach Grenier, David Lee to "Good Wife" fans, has been promoted from recurring player to series regular.

Season 5 of "The Good Wife" will see former friends and colleagues in battle. "What we've been saying to the actors and what we'll happily say to you is this season is really going to start at 90 miles an hour, because next year it is going to be civil war in the firm," series creator Robert King told The Daily Beast.

"The Good Wife" returns Sunday, September 29 at 9 p.m. ET on CBS.
