Jessica Alba And Amy Adams Show Us How To Mix Winter Greys Into Our Makeup Routine (PHOTOS)

If Jessica Alba can do it, so can you.

When digging around in my makeup bag for something to liven up my winter beauty routine, like most women, I naturally pull out the brightest shades. But Jessica Alba and Amy Adams have convinced me to give steely greys a go on brisk days.

Usually reserved for smokey eyes seen after 6 p.m., grey eye shadow has a surprisingly brightening effect that makes it as appropriate for daytime as it is for evening hours. For Alba's hazy take on grey at the 2012 Baby2Baby Gala, her makeup artist Fiona Stiles used her fingertips to press on a matching base color, then gently brushed on the shadow. She skipped the eyeliner for a strong, yet soft finish. At Monday night's 22nd Gotham Independent Film Awards, Adams stepped onto the red carpet flashing a sliver of grey-blue shadow. Healthy amounts of mascara and glossy pink lips rounded out both actresses' romantic beauty looks.

What do you think about grey eye makeup? Do you consider it an anomaly like blue eyeshadow? Tell us your thoughts in the comments section.
